Obtaining a New Brunswick real estate license involves completing the Pre-Licensing Course, administered by the New Brunswick Real Estate Association, and becoming a member of NBREA.

Preparing for your real estate exam does not prepare you to sell real estate. It may teach you some of the basics, but it does not teach you how to sell a house, find a client, or service a client. There is much more to learn. That is why it is important to affiliate with a real estate company that has an excellent training program and a staff that can help you achieve your goals.

Challenging the Exam

If you are currently licensed in another province as a salesperson or manager/broker and would like to become licensed in New Brunswick, then you are eligible to challenge the pre-licensing salesperson's or manager's exam, in whichever category you currently hold a license.

To challenge a real estate exam in New Brunswick you must:

  • Make application to the NBREA Committee of Examiners to challenge the examination. With this letter of application, you must provide proof of having been licensed in your province of origin within the previous six months.
  • The Committee must approve your application.
  • Pay a registration fee of $500 for which you will receive pertinent manuals and be allowed one sitting of the examination. (You may submit the fee with your application to speed up the process; payment is accepted by cheque, Visa, MasterCard, or money order.)
  • Register with NBREA to write the examination by contacting the Director of Education at 506-462-9286
